Privacy Policy

The International Association of Professional Music Teachers, or IAPMT, respects the privacy of our members and visitors. On this page, we will do our best to offer a simple explanation on what information we collect, and how we use it.

Logs

Our web server logs basic information on all visitors, including IP addresses, page requests, and browser types. This information is mainly used to determine overall traffic patterns, as well as to protect us from bad actors on the internet. These logs are collected anonymously and are not tied in any way to specific users or accounts.

Forms

Our website contains various forms which collect a variety of information from visitors and members. This information is stored in our database, along with IP addresses and other session data, which helps us to validate requests as well as perform security checks if necessary. By filling out these forms, you are agreeing to having all information you provide stored on our web server.

Cookies

We try to keep cookie use to an absolute minimum, and do not serve third-party advertisements and their associated tracking cookies. We do however use cookies as part of our login process, which will help us identify you when you access the membership areas of our website.

Payments

Although we collect payments on our website, we do not collect or store any sensitive information on our server. All payment information is sent directly to an authorized payment gateway through industry standard secure connections.

Links

Our website may include links to other sites. IAPMT has no control or jurisdiction over these other sites, and thus we cannot be held responsible for the policies and content contained on said sites. Just as in real life, we advise you to always be aware of your surroundings.

Confidentiality

We are committed to maintaining confidentiality on all our members, and never share data with other organizations. For example, the information we collect about contestants, such as registration information and reports from the judges, belongs to the contestant and is never harvested in any way, shape, or form. Contestants may choose to share their registration and reports with their teacher and/or area director if they wish, however this is completely optional and may be revoked by said contestant at any time.

Retention

Our general policy is to keep historical data on our members for as long as possible. However, as databases grow larger, they tend to suffer in performance, so we do cull our data from time to time and remove information on members who are no longer active.

Your Rights

If you are a current or former member of our site, then you can request to receive an exported file containing all the information we have about you, including any data you have provided to us. You may also request that we permanently delete said information, however this may not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
