Nancy Ko

Exam Chairperson- Northern California

Founder of Bravo Conservatory of Music, Nancy Ko began her violin and viola
studies at the age of eight. She obtained her Bachelor of Music and Master of
Music degrees in Viola Performance from Peabody Institute of the Johns
Hopkins University, and her Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Longy
School of Music of Bard College, emphasising in violin and viola teaching. Her
principle teachers include Victoria Chiang, Michael Larco, Chiachi Lai, and
Chichong Tseng.
An active soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra player, Ko
performed in prestigious music festivals such as Sempre International Festival
in Italy, Bowdoin International Music Festival in Maine, Orford Music Festival in
Quebec, as well as Eastman School of Music Viola Intensive Technique
Workshop in Rochester. She had the privilege to work with renowned
musicians including Heidi Castelman, Vagram Saradjian, George Taylor, Jutta
Puchhammer, Lauren Burns, Daniel Sweaney, Shanghai String Quartet, and
Saint Lawrence Quartet.
Ko enjoys building musicianship and self-esteem with her students
through music learning. She encourages her students to participate in
performances, music examinations, and competitions. Her students had won
prizes in US International Music Competition, and had the opportunities to
perform at Walt Disney Concert Hall, Colburn Music School, the Paramount
Studios, Skirball Cultural Center, Cubberly Theater, and Quinlan Community
Center. Ko currently serves as an adjudicator at the Certificate of Merit
National Music Exam and the CAPMT Student Evaluations.
